LCCA Goes Red for Women’s Health
Go Red for Women is a national program run by the American Heart Association, designed to increase awareness about heart disease in women. Most people understand that heart disease in the major killer of men. However, many women are more concerned about breast cancer or other problems than they are about heart disease. In fact, heart disease is the number one cause of death in women – it kills more women that ALL forms of cancer combined.
LCCA is working with the American Heart Association and other North Country businesses to get the word out. Women need to be as concerned about the health of their hearts as do men. This means watching their weight, exercising, knowing what their cholesterol is, and especially, NOT SMOKING. Chest discomfort, breathing problems, or indigestion should not be ignored.
We are also raising money for this cause - patients have already contributed at our front desk, and our staff is organizing an office-wide garage sale at 54 Tom Miller Road (right next to our office) on August 16. Please stop by, find something you like, ask the staff about any heart-related questions, and help stamp out heart disease in women. In addition, we are very pleased to announce that Seema Lodha, MD, will be joining LCCA in September as the only female cardiologist in the North Country..
So join LCCA and the American Heart Association, and Go Red for Women.
